One study found that couples who talked about their concerns beforehand had better sexual quality than those who did not. Another study found that individuals who expressed frustration positively instead of negatively tended to have better relationship satisfaction. Still, another study found that men who used humor when discussing intimate topics enjoyed more enjoyable sexual experiences.

A fourth study discovered that those who shared worries with partners had stronger relationships and fewer infidelities.

Stress communication style plays an important role in predicting sexual decline. People who talk about their needs, preferences, and desires tend to experience healthier relationships and more fulfillment in the bedroom. Those who bottle up their emotions may be at risk of developing serious issues like anxiety and depression. By taking care of themselves physically and mentally, individuals can reduce the negative effects of stress on their lives.
