In today's world, there has been an increased focus on diversity and inclusion in corporate systems. Many companies have begun to incorporate policies that are supposed to make their workplaces more inclusive for people from different backgrounds, including those who identify as LGBTQ+.

Despite these efforts, many queer employees continue to face challenges in the workplace. One major challenge is the feeling of invisibility - they feel that their identities are not valued or even acknowledged by their employers. In this article, I will explore how corporate systems' claims of inclusivity reconcile with queer employees' lived experiences of invisibility, what metrics ought to be added to diversity frameworks, and what future workplace models might look like when queer presence is affirmed rather than managed.

The first section of the article explores the issue of invisibility faced by queer employees in corporate systems. It looks at how many queer individuals feel like they have to hide their identities at work to fit into the prevailing culture. This can lead to feelings of isolation, exclusion, and alienation, which can negatively impact their productivity and wellbeing. The second section considers the metrics that should be included in diversity frameworks to better reflect the needs and experiences of queer employees. It suggests adding metrics such as representation, retention, and promotion rates, as well as feedback from queer employees about their experiences in the workplace. The third section outlines some potential future workplace models that could address the issues raised in the previous sections. These include affirmative action programs, mentorship initiatives, and training on cultural competency.

It is clear that there is still much work to be done to create truly inclusive workplaces for LGBTQ+ individuals. While corporate systems may claim to value diversity and inclusion, many queer employees continue to face challenges in the workplace. By including more comprehensive metrics in diversity frameworks and implementing more effective policies, companies can move towards a more equitable and just environment.
