Research suggests that gratitude practice can help promote post-traumatic growth by increasing feelings of hope and optimism, reducing rumination on negative experiences, and building resilience. LGBTQ individuals who engage in gratitude practice may be better equipped to cope with the challenges of systemic oppression and find meaning in their experiences.

Mindfulness Meditation

Mindfulness meditation involves paying attention to one's present moment experience without judgment or distraction. This practice has been found to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, as well as enhance emotional regulation and self-compassion. Mindfulness meditation can help LGBTQ individuals experiencing trauma to focus on the present moment and develop greater acceptance and awareness of their thoughts and feelings.
