PLAYBOY PRODUCTIONS: A LOOK AT SOFTCORE FILMS AND DOCUMENTARIES EXPLORING SEXUALITY AND LIFESTYLE RU EN ES

Playboy's involvement in film and documentary production began in the late 1960s when the magazine decided to start producing its own feature films. The first movie was "The Girls of Penthouse" followed by several more such as "Naked Angel," "Skintight," "Love Camp 7," and "Pretty Maids All in a Row." These movies were softcore pornography featuring nudity but no actual sex acts between actors. They were intended for adult audiences only. In addition to producing these kinds of movies, Playboy also produced documentaries that explored sexuality, lifestyle, and the Playboy legacy. Some examples include "Girls of the Playboy Mansion" which examined life inside Hugh Hefner's famous residence; "Bunny Tales" looked at what it takes to be a Playmate; "Playboy After Dark" featured celebrities visiting Hefner's club; "The Real Gatsby" examined F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel through interviews with modern playboys; "Through the Keyhole" featured stories from behind the scenes at Playboy Mansion parties; "Candid Camera Presents: Playboy's Girls Next Door" profiled former models who had left their lives as bunnies behind them; "Inside the Playboy Mansion" gave viewers an intimate look into life within Hefner's home during his reign as editor-in-chief; "The Truth About Bunnies" exposed some truths about working as a Playmate; and finally, there was "Mr Playboy Himself" - an unauthorized biopic on founder Hugh Hefner himself!

The company continued making films until the early 1980s when it shifted its focus towards television programming such as "Playboy TV," which ran for several years before ending production in 2013 after failing to attract viewership numbers needed for profitability despite featuring celebrity guests like Jay Leno, Joan Rivers, Pamela Anderson, etc., among others. However, this didn't stop them from producing documentaries that explored sexuality and lifestyle topics associated with the brand – "Hef's World," premiered in 2016 focused on how Hefner built his empire while simultaneously discussing politics surrounding feminism & sex work today (starring Amber Rose) along with other relevant issues related to gender roles today's society faces head-on including transgender rights activist Janet Mock interviewed by Caitlyn Jenner herself!
