Institutionalized queerphobia refers to systemic discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals that occurs within educational institutions such as schools, colleges, universities, etc. This form of discrimination can take various forms, from explicit denial of rights and privileges to more subtle manifestations like microaggressions and hostile environments. The consequences of institutionalized queerphobia are far-reaching and detrimental to all involved parties – including students, teachers, and administrators. In order to better understand these effects, we must examine the ways in which queerphobia affects student identity, intellectual development, and social integration.

Student Identity
