Physical fitness plays an important role in maintaining both mental and physical health. It also affects human behavior and performance including physical and psychological activities such as desires and intimacy. This paper discusses how physical training and fatigue influence the level of desires and intimacies among military personnel.
Military personnel are trained to undergo physical exercises for long hours each day, which may result in fatigue that reduces their energy levels. Exhaustion causes a reduction in libido because it impairs the body's ability to produce testosterone hormone responsible for generating sexual urges. Low testosterone level results in low desire for sex and decreased sexual satisfaction during intercourse. Military personnel who engage in strenuous physical workouts several times weekly tend to experience more fatigue than those who do less exercise. Moreover, they report experiencing lower intensity and duration of orgasms due to reduced energy levels.
Soldiers engaged in combat missions report feeling tired most of the time, making them unable to perform well in bed. Fatigue also leads to stress, anxiety, depression, and irritability, which further reduce sexual drive and pleasure.
Physical training and fatigue affect the levels of intimacy among military personnel through changes in mood, emotions, feelings, and perceptions about themselves and others. A study conducted by Smith et al (2018) found that physical fitness training and fatigue negatively impacted the intimate relationships of participants. The researchers revealed that military personnel who were fatigued reported higher levels of anger, tension, nervousness, sadness, fear, jealousy, and worry when interacting with their partners. These emotional disturbances led to reduced interest in socializing, touching, kissing, cuddling, or having sexual encounters with their spouses. Consequently, the relationship between them deteriorated gradually, resulting in divorce and separations.
This paper has discussed how physical training and fatigue influence the desires and intimacies of military personnel. Physical exercises reduce testosterone hormone production, leading to low sex drive and fewer pleasures during intercourse. Exhaustion causes emotional imbalances such as stress, anxiety, depression, and irritability, which may lower desire for intimacy. As a result, those participating in strenuous workouts report reduced feelings towards their partners, causing divorce and separation.
How does physical training and fatigue alter desire and intimacy levels among military personnel?
Physical training has a significant impact on desire and intimacy levels among military personnel, especially when combined with exhaustion from battlefield conditions. The stress of combat can cause a decrease in testosterone production, which reduces libido and sexual performance (Kulick & Pawlowski, 2016).
