In Study 2, participants read about a teacher who had recently engaged in sexual intercourse with a student and rated their level of agreement with statements regarding the teacher's competence and morality. Results revealed that participants who read about the teacher having sex with a student perceived them as less competent but not necessarily immoral. These findings suggest that engaging in sexual activity can influence judgments of competence without affecting judgments of morality.
Study 3 examined whether sexual activity influenced perceptions of fairness and social hierarchy by having participants read about two individuals who both possessed equal qualifications yet one had recently engaged in sexual intercourse while the other had not. Participants then completed a series of tasks in which they were asked to allocate resources between the two individuals based on their merit. Results demonstrated that when the individual who had engaged in sexual intercourse received fewer resources than the other, participants perceived it as unfair, suggesting that sexual activity may lead to perceptions of unfairness. When the individual who had engaged in sexual intercourse received more resources than the other, participants perceived it as justified. This suggests that sexual activity may be associated with perceptions of fairness depending on the context.
