SEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS AND SOCIAL FRAGMENTATION: A CASE STUDY ON ORGANIZATIONS

4 min read Lesbian

Sexual Relationships can be defined as an expression of human sexuality and is often considered to be one of the most fundamental aspects of any human being's life. It has been observed that sexual relationships play a major role in the development of many societies across the world. Sexual relationships have been recognized as a way of building strong bonds between individuals and it is believed that these bonds are vital for the survival of any society.

This does not mean that all societies are equal when it comes to sexual relationships. There are certain social groups which do not consider themselves as part of the mainstream population and hence their views regarding sexual relationships are quite different from those who belong to the mainstream. These groups include homosexuals, bisexuals, transgender people, intersex individuals, etc. In such cases, sexual relationships may lead to social fragmentation, exclusion, and marginalization within organizations.

This article will focus on how sexual relationships contribute to social fragmentation, exclusion, and marginalization within organizations. The first section of this article discusses how sexual relationships contribute to the creation of social groups within organizations. Section II talks about how these social groups come into existence due to differences in sexual preferences while Section III looks at how these groups create divisions among themselves through their own actions.

Section IV deals with ways by which these groups can overcome such divisions and become more inclusive towards each other.

Section I: How sexual relationships create social groups within organizations?

In today's world, organizations exist everywhere - from small businesses to multinational corporations, from universities to government agencies, from military establishments to non-governmental organizations. All these organizations consist of members belonging to different backgrounds and having varied sexual orientations. This diversity creates opportunities for sexual relationships to blossom and leads to the formation of various social groups within the organization.

A man may have a relationship with a woman or vice versa but it is possible that he/she does not find any partner from his/her same sex attractive enough. As a result, there is a possibility that they develop friendships or partnerships with people from similar backgrounds. Thus, sexual relationships play an important role in creating groups within organizations.

Section II: How sexual preferences divide these social groups within organizations?

The second section of this article examines how sexual preferences lead to social division among the members of these groups. It has been observed that there are certain individuals who do not consider themselves as homosexuals or bisexuals because they believe that they belong to the heterosexual category.

When they enter into a relationship with someone from a different sexual orientation, they realize that they belong to a different group altogether. They then start developing prejudices against those who belong to their own group. In fact, some members of these groups even go on to form associations where they can freely express their sexual preferences without being judged by others. Such associations often exclude those who are considered 'outside'.

Section III: Ways to overcome social fragmentation and marginalization created by sexual relationships within organizations

The third section of this article deals with ways through which social fragmentation and exclusion caused by sexual relationships can be overcome within organizations. Firstly, it is essential to acknowledge the existence of such groups and allow them to express their views openly. Secondly, it is necessary to encourage inter-group interactions so that the members of each group understand the viewpoints of other groups. Thirdly, it is important to provide opportunities for all members to participate actively in organization-related activities.

It is vital to educate everyone about the importance of diversity and inclusion at workplace. By following these guidelines, one can ensure that sexual relationships do not create divisions but rather strengthen the bonds between people from diverse backgrounds.

How do sexual relationships contribute to social fragmentation, exclusion, and marginalization within organizations?

Sexual relationships can contribute to social fragmentation, exclusion, and marginalization within an organization through several ways. Firstly, it can create power imbalances between individuals who engage in such relationships, which can lead to discrimination and favoritism. Secondly, it can result in the creation of cliques within the organization that exclude others who are not part of the relationship.
