Young people may be curious and desire to explore their bodies and desires independently. They require accurate and comprehensive information on contraception, STD prevention, and safe practices. The dilemma arises when educators must provide this information without violating religious values or encouraging premarital relationships.

One solution is to frame sexual education as a way to prevent risky behaviors and protect physical and mental well-being. By teaching abstinence before marriage, educators can reinforce cultural norms while providing necessary facts. Another option is to emphasize consent and communication within married relationships. Educators can also focus on emotional literacy and decision-making skills, which apply to all aspects of life.

Even if these strategies work, they do not address the psychological impacts of a lack of information. Without understanding, teens may feel ashamed and isolated, leading to anxiety, depression, and self-harm. Some may experiment in secret and develop unhealthy habits or engage in high-risk activities due to ignorance. Others may experience guilt, fear of judgment, or confusion about their identities.

I urge you to consider how we balance religious beliefs with adolescent needs for autonomy and support. We must ensure that our educational systems give students the knowledge and resources needed to make informed decisions regarding their bodies and relationships.
