SEX CAN HELP RELIEVE ANXIETY BY PROMOTING COMFORT AND PLEASURE

Having regular sexual activity can improve mental health overall by reducing depression, improving self-esteem, and decreasing loneliness or isolation. These effects are thought to be related to the activation of oxytocin receptors in the brain which regulate mood and empathy. Having a partner who offers consistent support, affection, and validation through physical closeness can alleviate psychological distress. Conversely, being alone or socially isolated is linked to increased risk for anxiety disorders.

Sex should not be used exclusively as an anxiety reduction mechanism because it does not address underlying causes of stress. Other coping strategies such as meditation, mindfulness, exercise, therapy, medication, or professional counseling can also be beneficial depending on the individual's needs.
