SEX AND RELATIONSHIPS: THE POWER OF BODY LANGUAGE, DISTRUST, AND SPIRITUAL RESTRICTIONS

2 min read Theology

The main reason why people have difficulty trusting themselves is because they are not aware of their own body language. Our bodies communicate nonverbally to others about how we feel about ourselves.

If you constantly show that you're uncomfortable with your body or do things that make yourself look bad such as hiding parts of it behind clothing, then it shows that you don't trust yourself. Also, when someone asks for something from you, whether it be physical affection or an invitation to dinner, and you deny them without even considering what they want or need, this can leave them feeling like they've done something wrong and hurt their self-esteem.

But what does religious discipline have to do with all this? Well, some religions believe that sex should only happen within marriage between husband and wife. This means that most couples will never explore different positions or experiment with each other unless they go outside of their marriage vows. Some also think that masturbation is forbidden and therefore refuse to practice it alone or with another person, which further restricts their sexual exploration.

There are those who see sex as purely procreative and consider any pleasure derived from it immoral. These ideas severely limit a person's ability to fully understand their own sexuality and develop healthy relationships with others.

This lack of understanding leads many people into a cycle of shame, guilt, and anxiety about their sexual desires. They may feel guilty for wanting something so much that they cannot find satisfaction in the confines of their current situation, leading to low self-esteem and poor communication skills. They may even start to doubt themselves because they can't get what they desire and question why God made them this way.

Religion has had a tremendous effect on how we view ourselves and our bodies. It has caused us to repress our natural urges and feelings, making it difficult to trust ourselves and express ourselves freely.

If we break free from these restrictions and learn to embrace our bodies for what they are, we will be able to form stronger bonds with others and gain a greater sense of self-trust.
