RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PERSONAL RELIGIOSITY AND SEXUAL AGGRESSION IN DIFFERENT CULTURAL SETTINGS

2 min read Theology

Religiosity is a religious belief system that refers to an individual's degree of commitment to their faith and how it affects their behavior and thoughts about life. Religiousness has been shown to influence several aspects of human behavior such as self-esteem, morality, social conformity, mental health, political attitudes, and even personality traits.

There have been limited studies regarding its relationship with sexual aggression, sexual inhibition, and relational satisfaction in different cultural contexts. This study aims to explore the link between personal religiosity and these variables to determine whether they correlate positively or negatively. The research question for this study will be: How does personal religiosity correlate with sexual aggression, sexual inhibition, and relational satisfaction in different cultural contexts?

To answer this question, a quantitative approach will be used where participants will be randomly selected from different cultural settings and asked to complete a survey containing questions related to religiosity, sexual aggression, sexual inhibition, and relational satisfaction. These questions will be designed using validated scales and will measure personal religiosity, sexual aggression, sexual inhibition, and relational satisfaction. Data analysis will be conducted using statistical methods to identify correlations between the variables.

The results are expected to show that personal religiosity is significantly associated with sexual aggression, sexual inhibition, and relational satisfaction across different cultural settings.

Individuals who report higher levels of religiosity may also exhibit lower rates of sexual aggression due to their strong moral values. In contrast, those who score low on religiosity measures may engage in more sexually aggressive behaviors.

Religious people may display greater sexual inhibitions, leading to less satisfaction in relationships. On the other hand, those who do not subscribe to any religion may experience fewer barriers to sexual expression and thus enjoy better sexual intimacy.

Further studies are needed to replicate and confirm these findings.

How does personal religiosity correlate with sexual aggression, sexual inhibition, and relational satisfaction in different cultural contexts?

Researchers have found that personal religiosity correlates differently with sexual aggression, sexual inhibition, and relational satisfaction in different cultural contexts. Studies suggest that individuals who are highly religious tend to report higher levels of sexual inhibition compared to those who are less religious (e. g. , Wiederman et al. , 2013).
