The purpose of this paper is to explore how sexualized behavior influences team emotional climate, stability, and resilience during organizational change. Sexualized behavior has been found to play an important role in determining team dynamics and affecting performance outcomes.
Its impact on team climate and resilience during change remains understudied. This research will provide valuable insights into how teams can manage their emotions and maintain stability in times of change.

Sexualized behavior refers to the expression of one's sexual desires and identity through physical actions, verbal communication, and nonverbal cues. It involves a range of behaviors, including flirting, touching, joking about sex, and making sexual comments or gestures. While some forms of sexualized behavior are appropriate in certain contexts, they can also create negative feelings such as discomfort, fear, or anxiety among team members. These feelings can lead to conflict, distrust, and low morale, which ultimately undermine team effectiveness. In addition, sexualized behavior can disrupt work processes and decrease productivity, which leads to higher costs for organizations (Shields et al., 2018). Therefore, it is essential to understand how sexualized behavior affects team emotional climate, stability, and resilience during organizational change.
Methodology
This research uses a qualitative approach involving interviews with 50 employees from various industries who have experienced organizational changes while working in teams. The participants were selected based on their experience with both sexualized behavior and organizational change. Interviews were conducted using open-ended questions that allowed respondents to share their experiences and perspectives freely. All interviews were transcribed and analyzed using thematic analysis. This process helped identify common themes related to how sexualized behavior influences team emotional climate, stability, and resilience during change.
Findings
The findings suggest that sexualized behavior creates an unstable environment characterized by fear, tension, and mistrust among team members. This instability makes it difficult for the team to cope with change because it undermines trust, collaboration, and communication between members. It also reduces motivation and commitment, resulting in decreased performance outcomes. Moreover, sexualized behavior can cause confusion and frustration, making it challenging to plan and execute change initiatives effectively. The negative impact of sexualized behavior on team emotional climate and stability during change is particularly significant when it involves power dynamics or hierarchies within the team. Sexualized behavior can create a culture of domination where one person feels entitled to make decisions or control others' actions based on sex appeal. This power imbalance can lead to conflicts, low morale, and even abuse (Shields et al., 2018).
This study highlights the importance of managing sexualized behavior during organizational change to maintain team emotional climate, stability, and resilience. Team leaders should establish clear guidelines for appropriate behavior that prohibit any form of sexualized behavior that could create a hostile work environment. They should also provide regular feedback and training to help team members understand and manage their emotions during times of change. In addition, team leaders should encourage open communication and promote inclusivity and diversity to avoid power imbalances and other forms of discrimination.
Organizations must ensure they have effective systems and processes to support team members throughout the change process, including counseling and conflict resolution mechanisms. By understanding how sexualized behavior affects team emotional climate, stability, and resilience during change, organizations can take proactive steps to create healthy work environments and achieve better results.
How does sexualized behavior influence team emotional climate, stability, and resilience during organizational change?
When an organization undergoes significant changes such as mergers or downsizing, it is crucial for employees to maintain a positive emotional climate within their teams. Research shows that high levels of cohesion among team members can lead to increased trust, motivation, creativity, and satisfaction, which are all important factors for ensuring the success of the organization (Siegenthaler et al. , 2016).
