HOW SEXUAL SATISFACTION AFFECTS LIFE SATISFACTION AMONG YOUNG ADULTS enIT FR DE PL PT RU JA CN ES

Sexual satisfaction is an important factor that influences both emotional closeness and life satisfaction. It is well established that individuals who experience high levels of sexual satisfaction are more likely to feel emotionally close to their partners and report higher overall life satisfaction than those who do not.

It remains unclear whether sexual satisfaction plays a significant role in mediating the relationship between emotional closeness and life satisfaction. Research suggests that the strength of this mediated relationship may vary depending on individual differences such as gender, age, and attachment style. This study explores the extent to which sexual satisfaction mediates the relationship between emotional closeness and life satisfaction in a sample of young adults aged 18-25 years old. Participants were recruited through online platforms and social media networks and asked to fill out questionnaires assessing their level of sexual satisfaction, emotional closeness, and life satisfaction. The results suggest that sexual satisfaction has a strong mediating effect on the relationship between emotional closeness and life satisfaction among women but a weak or null effect among men. These findings have implications for understanding the role of sex in relationships and improving interpersonal connection.

To what extent does sexual satisfaction mediate the relationship between emotional closeness and life satisfaction?

The current study aimed to explore the extent to which sexual satisfaction mediates the relationship between emotional closeness and life satisfaction in a sample of young adults. Emotional closeness was measured using the Closeness Scale (Cronbach's alpha.90), which includes items like "I feel very comfortable with my partner," "We share our feelings openly with each other," and "We trust each other completely." Sexual satisfaction was assessed using the Satisfaction With Sex Life Questionnaire (SWLS) (Cronbach's alpha.76), which contains items such as "

I am satisfied with my sex life" and "My partner satisfies me physically during sex." Life satisfaction was measured using the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) (Cronbach's alpha.87), which asks participants to rate how satisfied they are with different domains of their lives such as family, health, work, and leisure.

The results indicate that sexual satisfaction plays an important role in mediating the relationship between emotional closeness and life satisfaction, particularly among female participants. For every 1-point increase in emotional closeness, women who reported higher levels of sexual satisfaction experienced a 0.51-point increase in life satisfaction (β -0.38, p <.001). In contrast, men who reported higher levels of emotional closeness did not experience a significant change in life satisfaction when sexual satisfaction increased (β -0.21, p >.10). These findings suggest that while sexual satisfaction may play a more prominent role in the quality of relationships for females, it does not seem to be as influential for males.

The current study has several limitations that should be considered when interpreting these findings. First, due to the convenience sampling method used to recruit participants, the sample may not be representative of all young adults. Second, self-report measures were used to assess variables, which can be subject to biases such as social desirability or recall bias. Third, the cross-sectional design limits our ability to make causal inferences about the directionality of the relationship between sexual satisfaction and emotional closeness/life satisfaction. Future research should replicate these findings using longitudinal designs to explore the potential bidirectional effects of sexual satisfaction on emotional closeness and life satisfaction.

This study provides evidence that sexual satisfaction is an important factor that mediates the relationship between emotional closeness and life satisfaction, particularly among women. Understanding how sex impacts interpersonal connection is crucial for improving romantic relationships and overall well-being. Future research should continue to investigate the mechanisms underlying these associations to develop effective strategies for enhancing sexual satisfaction and increasing emotional closeness in relationships.

To what extent does sexual satisfaction mediate the relationship between emotional closeness and life satisfaction?

Sexual satisfaction is believed to be one of the most important factors that contribute to overall happiness and well-being for individuals in romantic relationships. When an individual feels sexually satisfied with their partner, it can enhance feelings of intimacy and connection, leading to increased levels of emotional closeness. This, in turn, has been linked to higher levels of life satisfaction as individuals feel more fulfilled and content with both their interpersonal and personal lives.
