It is essential to note that this study was conducted with heterosexual individuals aged 16-24 years old who identified as cisgender and exclusively attracted to opposite genders. The sample size was small but diverse and included both male and female participants.
The findings revealed that individuals who were more sexually open reported higher levels of risk perception than those less open. In particular, they expressed greater concerns about contracting STDs, having children out of wedlock, or experiencing rejection from their partners.
There was no significant correlation between sexual openness and other types of relationship risks (e.g., infidelity) and financial/legal issues (e.g., stalking). Moreover, risk perception did not vary significantly based on age, gender, ethnicity, education level, or relationship status.
