To address this question, participants were recruited via social media platforms and surveyed online using Qualtrics software. Participants completed measures of political nostalgia and sexual attitudes, including questions about their beliefs about gender roles, sexual orientation, and sexual practices. Data analysis revealed significant correlations between political nostalgia and erotic longing, with higher levels of nostalgia associated with greater intensity of erotic longing. This finding supports previous research indicating that erotic longing is related to social disconnection and desire for a better life. The results suggest that politically conservative individuals may be more likely than liberals to engage in erotic fantasies involving idealized pasts, while sexually progressive individuals may be more open to imagining alternative futures.
