Adolescence is an important developmental stage during which individuals experience physical, psychological, emotional, and social changes that prepare them for adulthood. Among these changes are biological developments related to puberty, including hormonal fluctuations and changes in body structure and functioning. These changes can lead to increased interest in sexual activity and exploration of one's identity as a sexual being.
Many adolescents lack adequate knowledge about sexual health and reproductive health, leading to risky behaviors such as unprotected sex and teenage pregnancies. As such, it becomes crucial to understand how adolescents conceptualize mutual pleasure, consent, and ethical responsibility in sexual encounters.
Adolescent sexual behavior has been extensively studied, but there is limited research on how they perceive mutual pleasure, consent, and ethical responsibility. This study aims to explore this gap by analyzing existing literature on adolescent sexuality and drawing insights from theories of moral development. The study involves qualitative data collection through interviews with adolescents aged between 15 and 24 years old who have had sexual experiences. The interviews will focus on their views on what constitutes mutual pleasure, obtaining consent, and taking into account others' feelings and perspectives before engaging in sexual activities. The results will provide insights into how adolescents view sexual encounters and help inform future policies and programs aimed at promoting safe and responsible sexual practices among young people.
To conduct the study, we will use semi-structured interviews that allow for open-ended responses to questions related to adolescent sexual behavior. We will select participants based on their willingness to participate and ensure that they are informed about the nature of the interview and its confidentiality. Data analysis will be guided by thematic analysis, which involves identifying patterns and categories emerging from the interviews. The findings will then be presented using quotes and examples from the interviewees to illustrate their understanding of mutual pleasure, consent, and ethical responsibility in sexual encounters.

How do adolescents conceptualize mutual pleasure, consent, and ethical responsibility in sexual encounters?
Adolescents often struggle with establishing healthy relationships due to a lack of experience, social pressures, and misconceptions about what constitutes appropriate behavior. They may perceive themselves as "experts" at sex because they are more familiar with the act than any other time in their life, but this can lead to reckless decisions that endanger both partners' physical and emotional wellbeing.
