Relationship Stability
The primary issue that arises when considering the relationship between bisexuality and stability is the fear of infidelity. Many people assume that bisexuals are more likely to cheat on their partner because they are attracted to both genders. This is unfounded as many studies have shown that there is no greater risk of infidelity among bisexuals than heterosexuals or homosexuals. Bisexuals may be more open about their attractions and desires but ultimately choose to remain faithful to one partner. The key factor in maintaining a stable relationship is communication, trust, and respect.
Loyalty
Another concern is whether bisexuality indicates disloyalty or unfaithfulness.
This too has been debunked through research. Bisexuals are just as capable of forming committed relationships with either gender as anyone else. They are not less loyal to one partner over another based solely on sexual preference. Again, loyalty depends on mutual respect, trust, and understanding.
Satisfaction
We must consider the question of satisfaction in relationships. Some argue that bisexual individuals may experience dissatisfaction due to societal pressure to 'choose' a side. This can lead to internalized homophobia or biphobia which manifests itself in negative emotions towards oneself or partners.
Studies suggest that bisexuals tend to be equally satisfied with same-sex and opposite-sex relationships. The most significant factor in satisfaction is compatibility and shared values.
