Similarly, transgender people may seek out gender-neutral language when reciting prayers or singing hymns. These changes help them feel accepted and valued within their religious community.
Some believers have also created new rituals specifically for the LGBTQ+ community. These include ceremonies celebrating pride month, drag shows during worship services, and queer liturgies. These events provide opportunities for members of the community to come together and express their faith in unique ways.
While traditional interpretations of religion may exclude non-heteronormative individuals, queer believers are finding creative ways to engage with their faith and create spaces where they feel morally affirmed and spiritually connected.
